The Client
33Arts is an art collective “Run by Artists for Artists” in Building 33 on the historic Santa Rosa, CA Naval Air Station. The collective offers spaces for all creative uses: arts, crafts, performing arts, bodywork, and gallery exhibitions, as well as classrooms, meeting spaces, and nonprofit suites.
The Challenge
Managers Julian Billotte and Anna Wiziarde needed a logo for their website and correspondence materials. It needed to be specific and general at the same time: specific to the 33Arts site and creative users, but not singling out one creative art.
The Solution
This first-ever logo created a strong identity for 33Arts, helping the collective attract many kinds of artists in and around Santa Rosa. The building was at over 75% rental capacity in the first six weeks of operation.
The chosen design used bright color blocks to recall an artist’s palette, panes of stained glass, or textile patterns.
An alternate design used the shape and color of the building, easily recognizable from the road approaching it, to represent the collective.
